She Matters Initiative respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit shemattersinitiative.org or get in touch with us, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Who we are
She Matters Initiative is a women-centred initiative of HELLO International, working to advance the health, dignity, safety and economic opportunity of women and girls. HELLO International is responsible for the personal information collected through this website. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to She Matters Initiative and HELLO International.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us. When you join our community through the Stay Connected form, we collect your email address. When you email us about partnering, volunteering, sponsoring a project or anything else, we receive your name, email address and whatever you choose to include in your message.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting and security providers record technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. This is used to keep the website running securely and to protect it from abuse and spam.
What we don’t collect. We do not use analytics, advertising or social media tracking tools, and we do not build profiles of visitors.
3. How we use your information
- To send the updates you asked for: news from the field, stories of impact, upcoming initiatives and ways to help.
- To respond to enquiries about partnering, volunteering, sponsoring a project or donating.
- To keep the website secure and to prevent spam and fraud.
- To meet our legal obligations.
We rely on your consent to send community updates, and on our legitimate interest in running and protecting this website and replying to you.
4. Stories, photos and videos of the women and girls we serve
The testimonials, photographs and videos on this website are shared only with the informed consent of the people shown. For anyone under 18, consent is given by a parent or guardian. Some names may be shortened or changed to protect privacy.
If you appear in content on this website and would like it changed or removed, contact us at info@shemattersinitiative.org and we will act promptly.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
We keep cookies to a minimum:
- Security cookie. Cloudflare, which protects this website from bots and attacks, sets a short-lived cookie called __cf_bm. It expires after 30 minutes and is not used to identify you.
- Accessibility preferences. If you use the accessibility menu, for example to enlarge text or increase contrast, your choices are saved in your own browser so they stay in place as you browse. They are not sent to us.
- Login cookies. These are used only by website administrators while they are signed in.
We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.
6. Third-party services
- Hosting and security. GoDaddy hosts this website, and Cloudflare protects it and delivers some of its files. They process technical information on our behalf.
- Fonts. Our fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google’s servers, which receive your IP address.
- Email. Messages you send us and Stay Connected sign-ups are delivered to our email inbox at HELLO International.
- Share buttons. If you share a page on Facebook, X, LinkedIn, WhatsApp or by email, you are taken to that service, and its own privacy policy applies.
- Donations. Online giving is not live yet. When it launches, payments will be processed by a secure third-party payment provider. We will not see or store your full card details, and we will update this policy to name the provider.
7. Sharing your information
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with the service providers described above, who help us run this website and communicate with you, or when we are required to by law.
8. How long we keep your information
We keep your email address for community updates until you ask us to stop. We keep enquiry emails for as long as we need to respond and manage our relationship with you, and then delete them. Technical logs held by our hosting and security providers are kept for short periods set by those providers.
9. How we protect your information
This website uses a secure, encrypted connection (HTTPS), is protected by Cloudflare, and is regularly maintained with security updates. No method of sending information over the internet is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under Nigeria’s Data Protection Act 2023, you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct or delete it;
- withdraw your consent to receiving updates at any time;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use your information.
To use any of these rights, email us at info@shemattersinitiative.org. You can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, or to the data protection authority where you live.
11. Children
This website is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
12. Links to other websites
Our website may link to partner organisations and other websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their privacy policies.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
